Sustainability in the Fashion Industry

The idea of sustainability in the fashion industry has been growing as more people have been educating themselves on the topic of climate change-something that’s been a trend among the internet and young people.
People have been more conscious of their purchasing power and how it impacts the earth. More people are thrift shopping, buying and reselling on apps like Depop and even buying handmade goods on sites like Etsy.
Although what’s mentioned above are great first steps, the best thing a person can do is shop locally.
In Portland, we have tons of amazing apparel designers who not only hand make their items, but also implement ethical practices into the pieces they make.
A designer to look out for here in PDX, who’s even participated in our show in 2018 is Ale O Moda, a designer who focuses on the aspects of modernity, high quality and a sustainable ethos when creating.
