FashioNXT 2020: Here We are
This year has been an extraordinary challenge for fashion designers, locally and globally. While it has been difficult for the global fashion industry, it has been especially hard for the small businesses – the independent designers, who have to manage their personal wellbeing, creativity, finances, and businesses.
FashioNXT has a steadfast commitment to creating access for fashion creatives to patrons through high-quality fashion experiences. Throughout the year our dedicated team creates programs to elevate the conversation and develop emerging talents, culminating in our annual October FashioNXT Week.
As this challenging phase began, we pivoted our social media to offer the #FashioNXTOnline Business Conversation series in March and followed that by elevating the voices of creatives for racial equality through the Black Experience series. As the team prepared for the anticipated live fashion programming, the health guidance neither allowed us to safely gather nor did it allow the designers a business atmosphere conducive to completing and continuing their work for FashioNXT Week. Undaunted, we continued our conversations with designers to discover how our expertise can support their outreach efforts. Understanding the reality confronted by designers, we created an approach that is responsive to their needs – a virtual show.
We will launch our virtual fashion experience on the weekend of Oct 9-10th with the finale of the 2020 FashioNXT Mask Design Competition for audience engagement (through vote and purchase), and we will also premier designers’ collections online every Friday (aka FashioNXT Friday) from then on as the designers finish their collections. Stay tuned in FashioNXT Schedule Page, and social media (@FashioNXT) as we premier new designers’ collections.
We are still accepting submissions for both the virtual show and extended the deadline for the mask design competition. Let’s come together to do what we can to elevate our fashion community.
